Tuning Options

Since we do the complete setup and tuning in-shop we can customize our instruments to our client’s needs. 

Regarding tuning, Equal tuning aka factory tuning refers to the tuning set out by the maker in India, in most cases the range can vary from 441Hz to 444Hz, as India does not follow western scale tuning.  Our job on this side of the world would be to ensure that the tuning is equal across the reed board, making sure everything is equal within the same frequency (hertz).

A-440Hz is a European standard frequency which means that the instrument should be tuned in a specific hertz. If you request this service, we would calibrate the instrument to this specific frequency/tuning. this makes the instrument playable with other fixed temperament instruments, i.e. Pianos, flutes etc..

A-432Hz is popular in the yoga/kirtan community, which is specialized calibration  to a lower frequency.

There’s really no wrong answer…the most popular is A-440hz.
