My highly anticipated harmonium arrived a few days ago all the way to the West Coast from Toronto. I was very pleased that it made the long trek without suffering any apparent damage - no doubt due to the excellent packing job. Everything seems to work and there are no sticking, rubbing or buzzing parts that I can tell. It even seems to be quite well in tune. My only disappointment is with the finishing of the keys - they are quite amateur-ally finished & the sharps could use another coat of paint. This doesn't however affect their playability, just the aesthetics. The sound is rich & full and I'm anticipating many happy playing hours.
Thanks very much to Mickey & the staff at Kala Kendra.

I had thought about buying a harmonium for many months, and did plenty of research on the internet... so many horror stories about poor quality instruments found on ebay. I finally had the chance to fly to Toronto and talk with the owner of Kala Kendar, who was terrific and talked me through the various price points and instrument types. He helped me choose the instrument which was best suited to my needs, this harmonium is well built, and has that wonderful rich New Delhi tone. I'm addicted to this instrument. It was shipped to my house, and was well tuned and set up, only have one buzzy reed which should be an easy fix.
In my mind, Kala Kendar is a very serious and trustworthy seller of Indian Instruments. Having met the owner and been to his store in person, I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again. Thanks!
