This sitar from Wassem Mh. represents a unique approach to instrument production. Each instrument is individually crafted and inspected at each stage of development. The gourds used all come from a selected farm in Pandhapur, an area known throughout India for growing the best gourds. All wood used is at least five years old and has been properly dried and seasoned. This wood is then selected for consistent grain, density, balanced colour and optimum acoustic resonance. Many innovations have been applied that break with traditional methods yet maintain all the desirable aspects of a concert grade instrument. The neck joint is pinned rather than screwed which allows a much stronger bond. Other areas such as neck width, soundboard angle, tailpiece width, matched pegs, highest quality components and string configuration present superior performance characteristics from this instrument. With the initial assembly work completed, the instrument is then gone over with surgical scalpels, jewelers files and other precision tools before an outstanding French polish finish is applied. Detail work, final bridge shaping and testing is then applied. Once every aspect of the instrument is satisfactorily met, only then is the name badge applied. This personal attention to detail and obsession for quality control is producing what can be considered one of the finest sitars available in India today. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, please take a look for yourself the beauty of this instrument.
