The barrel is made from sheasham wood; the high side skin is approx 7 1/2" with a matching bass side skin of 8 1/2". The dholak arrived in great condition. All it needed was to be tuned. The bass sound is clear and deep, the treble also clear and has a nice ring to it. I can honestly say the sound surpasses the price. I will be ordering more for my students in the future.
